Swimmers Spread Christmas Cheer

Swimmers that went caroling were Katie Nolan, Laura Moriarty, Stephanie Peacock, Marie Pesacreta, and Joe Kinderwater

“The best way to spread Christmas cheer, is singing loud for all to hear…” and on Saturday that is what the UNC Swimming & Diving team did. The team took a study break from finals and went over to the Charles House  Center and sang Christmas carols with adults.

Charles House is a daytime care center located next to Chapel Hill in Carrboro, NC.  It provides programs for adults who are dealing with various levels or dementia and support for their families.

“I decided to go because I love Christmas carols and spreading Christmas cheer! Singing with people is a lot of fun and it was great getting to know them. I hope we can do it again!” – Sophomore Katie Nolan

The team helped with the music activity for the day by filling the Charles House with carols and laughter. Afterward the team spoke with adults about where they were from,  about swimming, and what they were looking forward to about Christmas break.

The team will leave for Christmas break December 18 but will back together on December 28 for their training trip in Florida. There the team will compete against Penn State University on January 4.
